The door creaked open, and I was met with a warm smile. Her eyes, which had been full of life, now carried a deep sadness that I could see with just one glance. "Lea." her voice trembled as she whispered my name, looking at me from head to toe. l felt a lump in my throat as Sandra's eyes welled up with tears. It's times like these that make me wish I could cry, but I can't seem to do it anymore. Sandra had aged, but her face still held the kindness and warmth she had raised me with.
