~Katherine "You know, I really gave what you guys said a thought," I said through bites of my croissant. "Really? Which one exactly? Because obedience is not really your strong suit," Liam said, pointing his pain au chocolat at me. I rolled my eyes. "That's not true." He and Nevaeh gave each other a quick look. "It's true," they said simultaneously. "Okay, okay, whatever," I said, waving my arm in defeat. I sighed heavily and leaned closer across the table. "I need a man. I mean, I need to get a man soon!" "What's with the rush?" Nevaeh asked, furrowing her brows. "I don't know. I just feel like I'm ready for something, you know... real." "You mean, you think you're ready to get f****d?" Liam grinned. "Yes! Okay?" I hissed, my face heating up. "I just need someone's p***s inside me, like right now!" "Oh my God, our little girl is growing up," Liam faked a tear, clutching his chest. "By the way," I said while they were still gushing. I paused dramatically, taking a slow sip of my coffee and staring at the shocked look on their faces. "My mother is getting married... to my dad's best friend." "Wait, what?" Nevaeh gasped. "What the f**k!" Liam yelled. Before they could even react properly, Nevaeh glanced down at her phone screen. "s**t, s**t, s**t! We're late for class!" Liam picked up his book bag hurriedly, throwing the strap over his shoulder. "We'll meet up in like four hours and you have to give us all the tea," he said, practically pulling Nevaeh by her arm. "Love you, bye!" Nevaeh called out as they rushed away. "Love you, bye!" I responded, laughing my head off at how chaotic they were. I sipped on my coffee in silence when I suddenly smelled a very familiar perfume. My stomach dropped. "Hey, b***h," an annoyingly shrill voice said behind me. It was Latoya f*****g Cantrell. The exact b***h my boyfriend left me for. I practically poured the coffee right from my mouth back into the cup. I turned my head and sized her up. "Don't you 'hey b***h' me," I snapped, my voice cold. "I am not your bitch." "Are you sure?" she said with a smug look on her face. She didn't even ask—she just sat down directly opposite me. "What do you want?" I asked, glare locked on her. "Haven't you done enough?" Her eyes turned dark and mean. "Enough? You think this is anything? Marcus is just the beginning. I am going to make your life a living hell, Kitty, I promise you that." I sat there, completely taken aback by just how ugly the person sitting in front of me looked. The Latoya I knew was a nice girl. She used to love everyone and was very likeable. "When did you become such a witch?" I asked her. She laughed, a nasty sound. "I have always been like this, babe. It just took you a long f*****g time to notice." "What did I ever do to you?" She scoffed, leaning forward. "You really don't know?" I shrugged my shoulders, completely confused. "No." "Terry, Holden, and now Marcus," Latoya hissed. "I liked all those guys, but they only ever had eyes for you. Why do you think your relationships never last? You have everyone worshipping you, completely enthralled by you. You're so rich, drive f*****g luxury cars, and wear watches that cost more than all my relatives combined. You even work at a bar just to taunt me and my middle-class family." "What the f**k?" I blinked, staring at her like she was insane. "How does that make any sense, Latoya? I never even liked Terry, Holden, or Marcus that much. You were the one who insisted I date them! And when things went south, you were always the one who comforted me. Was that all a lie? If you wanted them in the first place, why didn't you just get them yourself?" "Because it wasn't as rewarding as seeing you in pain, Kitty," she said flatly. She stood up, smoothing down her skirt. "Watch your back. I won't rest until you atone for all your sins. And by the way, everyone in school is talking about you and your dysfunctional pussy." With that, she turned on her heel and walked off. I felt this sharp, crushing pain in my chest. A massive lump formed in my throat, and it wouldn't go down no matter how hard I tried to swallow. 'Don't cry, Kitty. Don't f*****g cry for that lunatic,' I told myself, blinking back the tears. I got back into my Porsche and drove to campus, but it felt like the whole world was taunting me. The second I parked and walked toward the building, my heart shattered all over again. I saw Marcus and Latoya kissing, right in front of the lecture hall. 'Can't I get a f*****g break?' They weren't alone, either. Marcus was standing with his stupid friend group, and Latoya was flanked by her new friends—the exact girls we used to talk s**t about. She used to say those girls were so pretentious and annoying, and now she was best friends with them. And with the nasty way they were all staring at me right now, I was absolutely sure she had filled their heads with lies. I could see them whispering to each other, and a second later, they all started laughing and staring right at me. I felt my cheeks burn, and I just wanted the ground to swallow me whole. But before I could even take another step, someone grabbed me from behind, lifting me completely off my feet and spinning me around in a tight hug. "Hey, sis!" Hudson said, his deep voice booming as he gently dropped me back onto the ground. "Hey," I said, a massive wave of relief washing over me as I hugged him back. "What are you doing here?" He smiled down at me and reached up, gently tucking a stray piece of hair behind my ear. "Dad said he wanted us doing some bonding exercise today." I looked behind him and noticed he was flanked by two of those massive security guards in all-black suits. Just then, the window of one of the black SUVs parked by the curb rolled down, and Dalia poked her head out, waving excitedly at me. When I turned my head back toward the lecture hall, I immediately looked at Marcus and Latoya. Marcus looked completely intimidated as he stared at Hudson and the security guards. Latoya looked absolutely pissed because Marcus wasn't paying any attention to her anymore. I stepped even closer to Hudson, reaching up to gently touch his chiseled face. "You have something right there," I lied softly, running my thumb near his jaw. Hudson's hazel eyes locked onto mine, and he gave me a warm, handsome smile that went straight to my stomach. When I turned back around to look at the crowd, I almost burst out laughing. Everyone was standing there with their mouths completely on the floor. The same people who were just laughing at me looked totally shocked, and some people were even pulling out their phones and taking pictures of us.
