"What did I ask you to call me when we are alone Ruby?"
His husky voice now demanded an answer in such a tone that I was obligated to give me a reply.
"Xerxes" I whispered and he lets go of my neck cupping my cheek, brushing his thumb softly over it before his hand went down to my breasts and cupped them.
I closed my eyes as his lips touched my chest, going to my n*****s and he suddenly bites me making me shriek.
"Forgive me, I cannot hold my wolf back any longer."
And with that, I felt his kiss on my neck before a sharp pain covered my body. I whimpered grabbing his hand which was around my neck and my tears surfaced.
"Why-" I whispered as my vision got burly.
"I promise you will not be hurt by me again after this." I heard him before the pain continued.
He was biting me, but the soft spot on my neck made it unbearable. And soon I felt as I my blood was falling out.
I shudder at the sudden feeling of arousal as he pulls away and kisses my lips. My body was now in his arms as I cried while he apologized. I could taste my blood on his lips.
With that, the doors to our chambers suddenly opened and I heard Lydia gasp before apologizing and running out. He chuckled watching the door closed and looking at me. I however was terribly embarrassed being under the King, both of us naked in such a position.
I stare down as he pulled me into him and let me rest my head on his chest before I fainted.
"Shall I tell you about things you might not know before you go ?"
I look at Maria, The Queen's primary ladies-in-waiting.
"What?" I asked softly with a curious gaze.
"Beware of the ones who have no wives."
I frown laughing in dubiety.
"They aren't human Ruby."
I stopped my chuckle and remembered where I was marrying off to.
"I heard they mark their wives. So all know she is taken."
"Mark how?" I asked
She was about to say but we were disturbed by a servant asking us to help the queen get dressed. I wish she told me that before I left.
I opened my eyes and my neck suddenly felt sore. I touch it shocked by how hot my skin was
"Madam. You are awake!" Lydia said helping me up and I realized I was now wearing clothes unlike when I woke up earlier.
I groan at the sudden headache," Uh, what, what happened?" I asked holding my head and feeling weak.
"Forgive me, Madam. I walked in. I didn't know."
I didn't care about it, all I could think of was my headache.
"Your Highness, a warm bath will help you with your sore neck and headache."
I look up to see Maya standing beside Lydia. Lydia helped me up as I look at the bath, the ladies now preparing for me.
"How did you know?" I asked as I walked towards it.
"You were marked this morning by the King, your highness of course we know."
I snap my head at her before letting Lydia take my gown off as the maids walked out.
Marked? That was a weird way to say my husband bit me and it was clearly visible.
"If you don't mind Madam, I would like to rub rose oil on your neck. It will help." Maya said grabbing a bottle filled with oil and showing me. I nodded before taking the gown completely off and getting in the hot bath.
Maya seemed like she knew about things that I or Lydia couldn't. It was important I ask her about it. I lay back and put my head on the pillow as Lydia put some oils in the bath with flowers. I smiled grabbing one and watching it while Maya rubbed my shoulders.
"We were told by the King to take extreme care of you My queen. We understood you might need some sleep so we didn't disturb you. However, it would be best for you to have a light meal and prepare for the ball."
Ah yes, the ball. She did mention it last night before leaving. A ball was held for the King and his Queen. Me. I was nervous to walk between them. They emitted a frightening strong aura and it scared me.
Not to mention these people were like a close community not liking any humans within them and here I was, Under their glares. I was the outsider. And I was sure I was hated a lot already.
I could feel it from the King's soldiers although talking to them helped put an ease on my nerves the same could not be said for the court and the Royals who resided within these walls.
They could very well hate me already just because I am human.
"What -" I pause to frame the question better. "How did you know my neck was sore?" I asked and Maya smiled handing me a mirror.
I stare at my neck, red and purple with a small scar where King Xerxes bit me. I didn't know it was that visible.
"My god" I breathe out.
"How?" I questioned this harsh bite.
"It is something we do your Highness, our mates mark us, you cannot be touched and if that man refuses to respect this mark. He is good as dead."
I look at Maya as she nodded.
"Why? Everyone must already know of the two yes?"
"It's the way of our Wolves.. this isn't just a mark you see. It's more like your presence is being altered. All men will know who you are now. And that is how it should be."
"So, the men in this kingdom just know who the woman is fated with by just a mark?"
Maya laughed humming in thought.
"No, not all. The alter in your presence can only be noticed if an Alpha has done so. Therefore, as the Alpha King has marked Your Highness. You will be seen as our Queen instantly. For us folks, it's more like they can tell if we have a mate, just not who-"
"Madam, The ball has begun." one of my ladies-in-waiting informed us and Maya nodded before carrying on her work.
I step out of the bath and I was wrapped in a cloth with my hair held up away from my wet back by Lydia, she helped me step out and I look back at my brush before wrapping the cloth around my body and grabbing my hair brush.
"It has been advised to be hostile to Sir Raymond. He is the ambassador of our kingdom. Here to represent us. You may only speak a few words not more than a sentence."
I look at Lydia, "Why should we be cold to people from our own kingdom?Isn't that inhumane?"
She sighs looking down while she applies perfume to my neck," That was to indicate you support this kingdom, you shall favor your new home over your past. You are the Queen now. Madam, you cannot spare any gossip."
I look back at the mirror in disappointment and keep brushing my hair. Suddenly the maids outside go quiet as they fussed with my gowns. I couldn't see since I was facing the mirror. Lydia suddenly bowed, leaving me and I frowned about to ask her, but I quite instantly realized my husband was behind me.
