Three months later
‘This looks amazing mum’ I sigh, turning around slowly in the hall that my mother and Henry hired to throw me a birthday party.
‘Well, it’s only once that my baby leaves her teens behind’ mum replies, bouncing on the balls of her feet excitedly before a gasp leaves her lips and she hurries away, no doubt to sort out a flower in one of the arrangements that isn’t quite facing the right way or something.
I smile brightly, hardly able to believe that this is what my life is like now. It’s crazy to think that only five months ago I was living in Miami, barely scraping through my classes with no real friends to speak of and now I live in Maine, my mother has found a second chance at a soul mate and I got a first chance.
