(Unknown's POV)
As soon as I entered the academy, my heart raced at a speed unknown to my own body. The strong scent was calling me to walk forward, find the addicting scent and wrap my body within the smell. I wanted to roll around like a child and cover my body with this scent.
Rich chocolatey mint with a hint of white roses. It was delightfully refreshing. A smell I had never scented before.
The scent was mouth watering, as I felt my mouth salivating in the need to have a taste of the most addicting smell I have ever come across. I wanted to roll around until the smell was imprinted on my skin. I couldn't stand the desire behind my every thought and for a second I wondered if I was going crazy.
'What is that amazing smell? Leave them all behind and go find the source of it.' My counterpart, August, whined about the need to take over. He wanted to find the smell as well and never wanted to allow it to leave our premises again. If this was someone's perfume, I knew I would have to be exactly what all those rumors said about us.
Could my mind be finally playing tricks on me? Did someone find out I was the son of King Arson? Was I already in danger even though I had just arrived? Who would have alerted these outsiders of my presence? Everyone who came to the academy from my Kingdom was told not to inform anyone of who I was and they had all arrived with me. There was no way they could have had such a long head start on me to pull this off.
I needed to find the source of this smell right now before my mind and body exploded with the over - stimulating need to lock the smell only within my reach. I wanted to hide the scent from everyone around us and keep it all to myself. I never wanted anyone to enjoy this as much as I was. How could I be thinking so illogical about a scent? What if it was someone's perfume? Was I going to confiscate it and keep it for all eternity?
What a joke. I was starting to sound as if I was deranged.
' I smell it too. Are you calming my crazy?' August bit out in annoyance. He hated it when I degraded myself or any one of them. He wasn't my only counterpart, but my other one was more on the quiet and observing side, as August liked to hear his own voice.
How could I control a scent? I shook my head, trying to rid myself of the crazy thoughts running wild inside of me. I was the son of King Arson, the next ruler of the Crimson Rage Kingdom. Everyone feared my family and was petrified of the rumors about us. Most of the things people knew were true, but not all of them. Most rumors sprouted from some event of the truth and slowly became wild stories that parents told their children to keep them in line. Our kingdom never corrected their accusations, allowing the rumors to sprout into whatever crazy thing the next person could think of. Most of my father's subjects laughed about what everyone else thought but the elders were starting to get concerned. The worse the accusations became, the more worried the elders became, fearing the other kingdoms would join forces and attack to keep themselves safe.
That was why we were here. Father decided to send some of his warriors children to the academy so that our kingdoms could live in peace together. This was the way for us to clear the rumors up. No one would know who I truly was while we were here, as I was only tagging along to learn insight into the other kingdoms and keep my subjects in line. Father fought tooth and nail for me not to come, but as soon as I agreed to go under a completely different alias, he allowed me to travel with the other children. I knew there were more conditions as he told me to keep my phone on me all the time and any time I didn't answer he would show up here and destroy this whole kingdom. I didn't doubt him one bit and I decided to try and not let father do that. I wanted a good relationship with the other kingdoms, just as the elders did as well.
Though we all knew no one would risk their child just to get a positive relationship built. Father thought very little of the other kingdoms, scared they would attack or capture me if they knew I was his child. The rumors alone scared everyone. No one knew how everyone would react if they saw a royal from that kingdom in person.
"Welcome to Mystic Academy. Please step this way, name your Kingdom and I can direct you all to the dorm rooms you have been assigned." A girl with blonde hair said as she smiled the entire length of her face. Her excitement was horrifying. One of the warrior's children stepped forward, scanning the girl for any threat.
'Get her away, her scent is unbareable.I will rip her neck out if I have to keep smelling her wet dog smell.' August hissed in annoyance, getting agitated about her presence in front of us. What was wrong with him? We were here to play nice and his temperament was making it really hard.
"We are arriving from the Crimson Rage Kingdom." I said nonchalantly, making a few of the men with me snicker. A couple of the girls sent me a glare, annoyed they weren't able to start the fun here. The girl's face lost her smile in less than a split second, as she turned towards me. Her face was contoured into a look of horror as she stared at me. I was pretty sure she wanted me to take back my words but that would be pointless as I wasn't lying. "Are you going to point us towards our dorms?"
"Y... y... yess. You will be staying i... in the North dorm. Here is a map." The blond stuttered out as she eyed me as if I was a threat. As soon as my fingers touched the edge of the paper, her hand let it go. I wasn't able to say a word before she darted off into a building. My enhanced hearing picked up the lock being turned and I couldn't help the chuckle that fell from my lips.
"Oh, this will be fun."Lils, a warrior's daughter, chuckled in amusement. She always found enjoyment in others being scared of us and I couldn't find a reason to scold her this time. Making friends with other kingdoms looked like it was going to be a challenge.
'I like Lils more and more each day. She made fun of that nauseating woman. I wasn't sure what I was going to do if I had to breathe in her scent one more minute.' August rushed out in relief as he seemed grateful the blond was gone. I finally understood, the perfume that wolf was wearing over powered the smell I was currently craving. Why did that aggravate August through?Instead of lingering on that question any longer, I decided it was best if I went off and found this scent before August targeted anyone else we were trying to play nice with.
"Why don't you all head up and find your dorms and, Chase, is there anyway you can drop my bags off in my dorm?" I asked one of my best friends.
"Of course, just don't wander off by yourself too long and remember your father wants us playing nice and making our kingdom look a little less scary to the others. Try not to get into any fights, alright?" Chase chuckled, as his eyes shined with mischief. I knew he would need a close eye on the entire time we were here or I would be begging my father not to kill my best friend when we returned home. If he could get away with wrecking havoc here, he would have already started. To bad my father didn't ask us to enforce the rumors instead. I handed my bag over to Chase before turning away from the group and walking in a different direction. I needed to find that scent before I went crazy.
'Do you think its mate?' My counterpart Jace asked in excitement. He had always wanted our mate, but I knew we were cursed to never find her. Some witch petrified of my father decided to curse his children and now I get to live out my life without ever finding her, loving her or even being able to touch our mate. How warm she would be, how her body would fit perfectly against mine, how her very soul would intertwine with my own. I always dreamed how it would feel to smell her scent, feel the tingles from her touch and see my world come together every time she smiled.
The scent was trailing towards the woods, as it was mixed with other male scents as well. My counterparts became antsier and thought of the most gruesome way they could rip the males apart. I wasn't sure who had this scent on them but I prayed my counterparts didn't attack the person as soon as we figured it out.
