Tonight, I went back to Emma' place. On my way, my mother-in-law kept calling. I was already in a crappy mood and couldn’t be bothered to argue with her, so I just ignored the calls. Eventually, she gave up. I shut my eyes for a second, thinking it would be nice to chill at Emma’s, have dinner, talk things out a bit. With the whole divorce mess hanging over me and so much crap going on, I was feeling downright wrecked. But she’s been swamped with work lately, barely getting any sleep, working overnight for days. So I didn’t say much, just whipped up a few simple dishes. “Emma, take a break and eat something first.” She looked up with those panda eyes, spotted the three dishes and the soup, and just about melted. Let out a squeal and threw her arms around me. “My angel!
