“I prayed to be punished and now I’m here.” My little bird’s words hit me like a swift punch in the gut.
I knew that she was still having issues adjusting to the fact that she was our mate. If I could change things, I don’t know that I would. As much of a monster as that might make me seem. I wanted her any way that I could have her.
I sat staring at my mate, unsure of how I was supposed to comfort her. She needed me, she needed all of us. We could help her through this. I just didn’t know how.
Killing my father had been hard, but it was a necessary evil.
Her parents hadn’t deserved that and the guilt was eating her alive. Making her think that she deserved to be punished and hurt. It was also making her think that she was unworthy of our loving her.
