The first thing I felt when I woke up was that… I was completely rested.
For the first time since Darius had left for the Fiery Run, my body wasn’t trembling inside. The heaviness in my chest was lighter. My breathing was steady and I had slept so peacefully .
I blinked softly, letting my eyes adjust to the weak hospital sunlight filtering through the blinds.
When my vision cleared, and I stopped to admire the man next to me.
Darius was lying right beside me on the hospital bed.
His eyes were closed, arm resting loosely around my waist, face relaxed in a way I hadn’t seen in days. My heart squeezed painfully, warmth blooming inside me.
I've missed seeing him like this.
