POV: Adriana The next morning, I slept in. I hadn’t gone to bed early last night, and my body felt heavy with exhaustion. When I finally opened my eyes, sunlight was already spilling through the curtains, shining across the room. I stretched lazily, a small smile appearing on my lips as the memory of my conversation with Mom last night came back to me. She was so happy. I hadn’t heard her that cheerful in years.
