Collins pulled the car out of the hotel parking lot, where the event was still in full swing, the glow of the city lights stretching across the tinted windows like soft golden ribbons. I sat beside Darius in the back seat, my hand in his, our fingers loosely linked together.
“We’re really going to our new house, right?” I asked with a small smile.
“To our new house baby,” Darius replied beside me.
I blinked. I was excited. Our? New house?
I loved the way it sounded. ‘Our New House’.
Before I could say anything else, Darius squeezed my hand. He looked far too smug.
But then he kept staring at me—my smile, the way I kept brushing my thumb over his hand. I felt the weight of his eyes before he even leaned closer to me.
