POV: Maximus The night was quiet, the kind of silence that made a man feel powerful. I leaned back in my leather chair, the glass of whiskey on the desk catching the faint glow from the lamp. My phone was pressed against my ear, the low voice of my business associate spilling through the receiver. “Don’t worry,” I said, my tone calm and sure. “The materials are ready and will be sent out shortly.
