Saturday came quiet. And Peaceful.
But it was the kind of quiet that only came before chaos.
The day had been peaceful enough. Adriana and I had spent the morning together — breakfast, laughter, and the kind of small talk that made my chest feel lighter. By noon, she had gone to Adira’s apartment for her study group thing with Elsie and Irina. I didn’t mind. At least I got to spend the morning with her.
The rest of the day I buried myself in work. Caleb had stopped by my office, and we’d spent hours reviewing documents, going over numbers and contracts I barely paid attention to. My mind wasn’t really on the pages. It was on her. It was really hard for me to stop thinking about her.
By six in the evening, I heard a soft knock on the door.
“Come in,” I said.
