Carla The memory of the blood pooling in her hands was still etched into her mind, it refused to fade away. She remembered the last words her mother spoke to her before her parents and her grandparents perished in the explosions. "She's alive! She's safe, we can bring her home." Carla remembered how happy they all were, and she remembered that she was so excited to see her sister and to become an aunt to Angie's baby. But Carla lost the only other family she had left, their dead bodies burned until there was nothing but charred flesh and bones. Carla sat on the floor in a giant hallway inside what people were calling the Sanctuary with a blanket wrapped around her, her arms hugging her knees so tightly she could barely breathe.
