The moment I took my seat at the head of the long glass table, the Chairman — Harold Breckman — slammed a stack of printed reports down so hard the pages scattered. “Mr. Astor,” he barked, “explain to us why we woke up to a nationwide scandal tied directly to the CEO of a security-tech empire.” “We’re handling it,” I replied calmly. “You’re not handling it,” another board member snapped. “The timing couldn’t be worse. Not with the Nexus project entering the intelligence-verification phase.” I lifted a brow.
