She pulled out her phone, her thumb pressing down on the screen with subtle, suppressed rage. Her sweet scent soured into a bitter, acrid tang under her breath. Why? Because Julian had chosen to send me to the pack police rather than severing our mate bond on the spot. Calling the cops meant delays, investigations, and paperwork; it wasn't the clean, immediate break she had been desperately praying for.
