Kaelen I couldn’t get her out of my head. No matter how much I tried to convince myself that I had made the right decision, that Alara was my true future, Kaida’s sudden disappearance gnawed at me. She had left so quietly, without any protest. It was as if she had been waiting for the divorce, eager to start her life without me. But that didn’t sit right. The idea of her leaving without a word, without any emotion, made my stomach churn. Was it really over just like that? Or was there something else? Something she wasn’t telling me? The nagging curiosity got the better of me. I needed to know. If there was any unfinished business, any loose ends, I needed to clear them before I could move forward with Alara. That’s what I told myself, anyway. But deep down, I knew it was more than that.
