Harry was shocked. Sure the miscarriage in itself was shocking and saddening at the same time, but he was more affected by what the love of his life told him when the doctor exited the room.
He had been scared she would pin the miscarriage on him –afraid that his coming back to her life had put her under too much mental stress– and had been quick to apologize and to tell her his feelings. The confession was nothing but the truth. And to say he hadn’t expected her to respond the way she did would be the understatement of the year.
