I should have known Renli would do something reckless. The moment she and Aviona vanished through the hedges, I should have known better. I should have gone after them.
My gut told me from the start, and I ignored it. I shouldn’t have waited for the lasso’s distress call to move.
If I’d only listened to my instincts, she wouldn’t have been hurt like this. The attack might never have happened at all.
