I wake up and Aria is still sleeping in my arms. The baby kicked a few times during the night but she didn't wake. I'm grateful for that. She needs all the rest she can get before the journey to the safe house.
I get up carefully and dress in the dark. Today is going to be difficult. Saying goodbye to pack members I might not see again. Watching families separate. Knowing some of them might not survive what's coming.
By the time I reach the main courtyard, warriors are already preparing the wagons. Six of them lined up, loaded with supplies and blankets. Octavia is checking each one, making sure everything is secure for the journey.
"Alpha," she greets me. "Everything is ready. We leave in one hour."
"Good. How many guards are we sending?"
