Three days after the poisoning, I'm finally allowed to leave the recovery room. Kael insisted on accompanying me to my first council meeting, along with four guards who follow at a respectful distance.
The meeting goes well. Rowan, Cassian, and Thorne update us on border security improvements and the investigation into Ashley's infiltration. Everyone treats me normally, which helps restore some of my confidence.
After the meeting, Kim approaches with a request. "Luna, the eastern border patrol has been asking to see you. They want to know you're recovering well."
I look at Kael, who immediately looks ready to refuse.
"It would be good for morale," I say before he can object. "The eastern border took the worst of the Silverpeak attacks. Seeing their Luna healthy would help."
