I look at Billy as he looks at Nikki’s body. Today we were having a ceremony to send her soul back to the Moon Goddess. No one dared to get close to him thinking that he might snap. Ethan and I have been the only ones taking care of him and Paige. I take Billy’s hand in mine intertwining our fingers. This makes him look down at our hands, but I don’t let go. Ethan looks down and I expect him to growl or be mad, but all he does is kiss the top of my head.
‘You’re amazing baby’ he links me. I look up at him and give him a small sad smile. Ethan stood at the edge of the moonlit clearing, I could feel the weight of grief heavy on his heart. The forest whispered around us, the rustling leaves echoing our sorrow, as our pack gathered close, their eyes filled with collective anguish.
