For the remainder of the drive, we sat in comfortable silence. We didn’t need to say anything more. He didn’t ask for more information about my prior rejection. I didn’t want to talk about it anymore anyway. We listened to Jimi Hendrix and Nirvana and Nine Inch Nails, with our hands firmly clasped together on the center console. We shared the rest of his chocolate bar. He even drank some of my Pepsi, but he didn’t seem to like it. When we finally arrived in Cleveland, it was about 11pm, and it was drizzling.
