Chapter 55: Chronus Revertum
The night the sky broke over Astaria Academy, the stars themselves seemed to tremble.
The moon had vanished behind a roil of blackened clouds, and beneath that churning sky, our world burned. Shadows poured like liquid fire from the broken wardlines — Nightwalkers in their thousands, beasts of twisted flesh and bone, aberrations that howled without mouths. The ground itself seemed to pulse with corruption, veins of voidlight spidering through the soil as if the planet’s heart had been poisoned.
The siege was total.
“Hold the gates!” Professor Lysander shouted from the ramparts, his runic staff flaring as a barrier sigil erupted overhead. “Do not let them breach the second wardwall!”
