Chapter 43 - Good-for-nothing Classmates

1575 Words
Elena's voice was layered with contempt, but Naomi simply nodded indifferently, not showing any reaction. She also did not complain about her classmates in front of Elena. She handled the situation with poise and calm. "I understand, Elena. When I sent the message, I did it casually, not with ulterior motives. I just wanted to get in touch with them." Naomi smiled sweetly. "If I want to achieve results, I obviously need to rely on you." Elena looked at Naomi, envious. She stared at her slender legs, her eyes full of jealousy, but also with a trace of longing. "Say, why didn't you say yes to the owner? Although he's a little on the old side, he's not that much older than you. You're 22, right? He's like only 20 years older than you. It's not like he's some wrinkled old man on his deathbed. Even if he's a little bald, he's rich!" She continued, "Think about it, this dealership has tons of luxury cars here! The owner also has assets in other industries. If you follow him, you'll definitely live a good life!" Hearing this, the owner's appearance flashed in Naomi's mind. A faint, indiscernible look of disgust flashed on her face, which she quickly covered up with a smile. "Elena, stop joking around. You know the owner has a wife and kids. I also heard he habitually cheats on his wife with different women. Isn't he already in an affair with that girl in our finance department?" "I'm still young, and in no rush to find a man. I can wait. Maybe one day I'll find my Prince Charming. Or maybe… he'll appear in front of me when I least expect it." Elena shot Naomi a look of disdain. "Too naive. What Prince Charming? I don't believe in that crap. In today's society, money is everything. As long as a man has money, nothing else matters. You need to take advantage of your youth and beauty to snag a rich man now. Once you become a wrinkly old woman, no one will want you." Disappointed and dissatisfied, Elena continued, "It seems you're too narrow-minded. Looks like you just can't let go of your good-for-nothing high school classmates." Naomi pursed her lips. "Well, not all my high school classmates are good-for-nothings." "Is that so? Then, if even one of your high school classmates comes over here and buys a car from you, I'll believe it," Elena snickered. "And it can't be a used Mercedes. They need to buy a brand new one." As the two were talking, they suddenly heard a voice from their walkie talkies. It came from the front desk. "Naomi, a handsome guy wants to see you. He said he was your high school classmate and came to buy a car from you." Elena froze, dumbfounded. Naomi was also surprised by this development. "Is this for real?" Elena asked in surprise, "Naomi, did one of your high school classmates really just come?" "I don't know." Naomi shook her head. Handsome guy? Could it be Gael Taylor? A name flashed in Naomi's mind, but Naomi shook her head quickly. She murmured to herself, "No, no, Gael was the poorest person in the group chat. How could he buy a car here..." "Well, you'll know it once you see it." Elena dragged Naomi out. They both arrived at the reception area. "f**k, he's so handsome!" Elena looked in Gael's direction from a distance and cried, "His height, his face, his body, all perfect! I can't believe there is such a handsome guy among your high school classmates!" "It just doesn't make sense... isn't Gael an orphan? In high school, he couldn't even afford to eat. It'll be a miracle if he can afford to attend college..." Naomi's eyes lowered in speculation. "Where did he get the money to buy a car here?" I stood at the front desk and turned my head, seeing Naomi walking out. She looked a little shaken. She stared at me blankly. "Naomi, long time no see.'' I walked up to her and smiled. "Don't recognize me?" The startled Naomi was so shaken that she took a step back subconsciously and lost her composure. "s**t, Gael, why are you standing so close to me?" Her face flushed, she pouted. "You're playing with me, right? Be careful with what you say, or I'll hit you with a screwdriver." I chuckled. This woman, who I have not seen for many years, still had it. She had a tall, slender figure and a perfect hip-to-waist ratio. Her pair of breasts that were wrapped tightly by her clothes seemed even bigger than before. "I just so happened to be nearby when I saw your text in the group chat. I thought I might as well take a look. How about it? Can you recommend a car for me?" Elena stared at Naomi, her eyes wide, as if to say, "Did he really come here because of her message?" Naomi recovered from her shock and put on a beautiful smile. "Alright, follow me then. I'll take you around." I nodded and followed Naomi to the exhibition room. "Mister, what kind of car would you like to buy? Have any ideas regarding the model?" asked Naomi, as she walked. I shrugged my shoulders and said, "Nope. I don't know much about cars. I just didn't have a suitable car for traveling and decided to buy one at the spur of the moment. How about you introduce the good models to me? I'll pick the one I fancy." Did not have a suitable car? Decided to buy one at the spur of the moment? These sentences sounded pretentious, and a bit unbelievable. Hinting that he did not come here to buy a car, but instead was here to see her. Buying a luxury car was supposed to be a big deal. It involved tens of thousands of dollars. Unless one was super rich, no one would decide to buy one at the "spur of the moment". It was buying a car, not grocery shopping. From Naomi's point of view, I was the super poor classmate that struggled to buy food most days. She gave me a puzzled expression, her eyes clouded with doubt. Suddenly, it seemed something dawned on her. She turned around and continued walking, humming. She probably misunderstood something. However, I did not bother clarifying. I must say, Naomi sure knew how to act respectfully. She always kept a smile on her face, without the slightest trace of impatience. Upon learning that I did not come in with a specific model, price, or performance in mind, she took me around the gallery of cars, introducing them to me one by one. She listed the performance and features of each car patiently. ... "Look, Naomi is taking that handsome guy to see the S400! That car costs over a hundred thousand! Can he really afford it?" "Naomi told me about her high school classmates before. If I recall it correctly, that person is Gael Taylor, he's an orphan. Although he's handsome, he was the poorest in her batch. Sure, you can play with him for his looks, but, as a husband, he's just too poor." "Are you sure, Elena? Doesn't that mean she is wasting her time on nothing?" "Ain't that the truth, eh. That guy probably has hots for Naomi and couldn't wait to come over here after seeing the group chat. Him buying a car? Hehe, it's impossible!" Elena was gossiping with another saleswoman. They both thought she was wasting her time on a broke guy and snickered at Naomi's luck. "Tch, she is just too nice. Even after clearly knowing his situation, she's still introducing him to every car patiently." "This guy seems pretty stupid too. I get that you want to show off, but this is just too much. It's obvious that he can't afford it. What's the use of pretending to be rich?" "Look, look, they went to see the Maybach G63 again! The price on that is ridiculously high. It's like 300 thousand dollars!" "Wait, wh-what's he doing?" the woman stammered. ''s**t, Naomi's coming over. A-are they going to take it for a test drive?!" Naomi walked over and smiled at Elena. "Elena, can you give me the key to G63? My client wants to take it for a test drive. Seems like he likes this car quite a bit." "I like it too." Elena smirked. "A Maybach G63 limited edition matte black, it costs 365,000 dollars! So what if he likes it? It's just a waste of time if he can't afford it." "Don't get angry, Elena." Naomi giggled. "So what if I can't sell it? You know, that G63 is my favorite car in this whole store. I have always wanted to take it for a drive. Please, I just need you to do me this small favor." "Aye, whatever. I'll do this because I pity you." Elena waved her hand and tossed her the key. "Alright, go ahead. If you can, come back early. Don't waste all the gas on that handsome guy. Of course, if you have plans for him, go for it. Even if you end up f*****g in the car for two hours, I'll help cover it up~" "Bah, what are you saying, Elena?" Naomi coughed, her face turned bright red. "I'll be going now." She took the key and walked away briskly.
