The Third Floor

I took a lukewarm shower and wash away the strange vibes I was having, it worked for all of five minutes, until JJ called with an invitation to go to some club down the beach called ‘The Third Floor’ I had never heard of the place but apparently it was the place to be, which again seemed strange to me that I was hearing about something I had never heard of even though it was not even ten miles down the beach but before I could say anything Miss Laa’s words rang like bells in my head. I felt woozy and excited at the same time. I wanted to say no but if I’m being honest, I also felt an unexplainable pull to go. I agreed and JJ said she would pick me up at 10:30, I put my phone down and took a deep breath wondering what this night had in store for me.   Rowan’s Point of View    I was sitting in my office thinking about the beautiful woman I had seen earlier that day when my right-hand man Lucky strolled in.  “Your princesses name is Dylan” Lucky said as he sat down in of the chairs on the other side of my desk “and she’s a bartender at ‘The Hook’, as far as anyone knows she’s single, not that I would expect another man to stop you”. “Nothing could stop me from seeing her again” “Well good thing for you that you only have to wait until tonight. Colton knows her friend JJ and invited them to the club tonight”. “Perfect, thanks brother” I said.  After Lucky left, I looked at the clock and immediately wished I hadn’t it was only 1 o’clock, tonight was a long time away. I realized it had been so long since a woman had given me butterflies that it felt like the first time, it was terrifying, but I was ready. I had to be, women like Dylan were once in a lifetime, if even that. I would know, I was 200 years old. I lived thirty years before I was turned into the vampire I am today. The fact that I’m a vampire isn’t a secret I guard with my life but very few people actually know, that’s part of the reason I started ‘The Grays’, the motorcycle club I lead going on sixty years ago. Even though I have quite a few vampires around me the brotherhood that a MC provides is priceless as well much needed. I know my brothers in the club would protect me and my secret, as well as the other members that are vampires with their lives. I respect loyalty above anything else. Being in a motorcycle club also gives a level of anonymity, trust me, I know what I’m talking about. Members of MC’s live as far off the grid as they can, which is very helpful if you’re a vampire that’s trying to avoid having to uproot their lives and start all over again every so many years, because let me tell you, doing that really fucking sucks. I opened The Third Floor about 3 years ago, only because having a thriving business helps pass time along with a reasonable explanation as to where my money comes from. One thing that does not change with people no matter what era you’re living in is they are nosey, and they find it easier to worry about other peoples lives rather than their own. Thankfully they also believe wild tales that they have been told about the paranormal, like that vampires are as white as a sheet and can only come out at night. The part about being super pale isn’t true at all, vampires come in many different shades, as far as daylight goes, that’s partly true, in order for us to be “day walkers” as it’s sometimes called a vampire needs a daylight amulet. It doesn’t have to be any particular stone, it’s the work done by a witch that makes it a daylight amulet. Not all witches possess the power or skill to make daylight amulets, in fact very few actually do, they are made one at a time and only will protect the vampire that the work was done for and the witches always insist on meeting the vampire before they will even consider doing any work for them. The witch that I trust more than just about anyone, outside of my brothers is a local witch, Miss Laa. She has helped me so much over the many, many years that we have known each other, in fact I call her my guardian witch. Just as I glanced at the clock again my cell went off, it was one of the brothers calling to ask me if I was able to come sign for the liquor delivery for the bar. I said I would be right down, grateful for the distraction.  Dylan’s Point of View   I called my absolute best friend, Scarlett, to tell her about the strange day I was having. Scarlett was the perfect person to talk to about this kind of stuff, not only had she been my best friend for over twenty years and never ever judged me she was also gifted with psychic vision as well as being able to read peoples auras. She had just recently moved to Florida, about an hour from me I wanted her to be closer, but an hour was much better than NY. After I had gone over every detail about the weird happenings of the morning she laughed and said it was about time something happened in my life. “Girl, your life has become very boring, even by my standards” she laughed. “That’s very helpful Scarlett, thank you” I said as sarcastically as I could. “Look, just go and have a good time, you’re due for some wild times, and then call me tomorrow and tell me all about it”. “Yeah, I guess you’re right. Thanks for listening, I love you”. “I love you too girl. Have fun and go where the night takes you”.   After going through almost all of clothes I settled a low-cut white halter body suit and my favorite pair of jeans, they sat perfectly on my hips and had just the right amount of flare at the bottom. They made my already long legs look even longer. It was the perfect outfit to look fantastic in without looking like you put any real effort or thought into it. I did light make up to round off the minimal effort look I was aiming for and put my hair into a messy bun and let my long curtain bangs frame my face. JJ pulled up outside my place just after 11 o’clock and we headed down the beach. The 15-minute ride seemed to take forever with all the tourist in the way driving around aimlessly, when we finally pulled up to ‘The Third Floor’ I couldn’t believe I had never been here before, much less even heard of it. It reminded me of the big clubs in NY, it was a dark massive building that looked like a warehouse. The valet guy had no sooner handed JJ her valet ticket when Colton, the guy that JJ was so excited to hang out with tonight greeted us. “Hello ladies, how are you doing this evening”? He asked as he slipped his arm around JJ’s waist and kissed her cheek. I almost laughed out loud as I watched JJ literally swoon. After we exchanged hellos Colton gestured toward the door and said, “shall we see what this night has in store for us”? I quickly pulled my head back, those were almost Scarlett’s exact words, maybe I was reading too much into it but considering how strange this day was already and that I don't believe in coincidences as it is.
