SKYLAR The ground had stopped rumbling and hesitantly, everyone stood up and scanned our surroundings in a cautious manner. I saw the Elders get to their feet as they waited, their faces filled with concentration. There was usually an aftershock after the earthquake or a sound as the earth settle underneath us. But there was nothing.  No rumble, no sound. Only silence. The birds had stopped chirping and everything seemed to be happening in slow motion.
