♥ Jethro ♥ The road to the cabin felt different this time. No weight. No pressure. Just the promise of a good, relaxing weekend. I glanced at Chloe beside me, curled up in the passenger seat with her hair pulled back into a loose braid, while her fingers traced lazy circles on her thigh. She looked out the window with that half-smile she didn’t even realize she had. The one that told me she was at peace. The drive had always been beautiful, but with her here, it was breathtaking. And I had plans. Big ones. Plans that involved candlelight and firewood, and the small velvet box currently tucked into the inside pocket of my coat. “You are quiet,” Chloe suddenly said as she broke the silence and looked at me. “I’m just enjoying the view,” I said, and her smile turned into something knowing.
