Zarek. The first thing I saw when I opened my eyes was Valtira sleeping. Her chest rose and fell with slow, even breaths. Her hair was messy, falling across her face in dark, and soft waves. I could see the faint curve of her lips, relaxed in slumber. A small, unintentional smile tugged at my mouth. I reached out gently, brushing a stray strand of hair from her cheek. She stirred slightly but didn’t wake. I leaned closer, careful not to disturb her. My fingers moved through her hair like I was memorizing the feel of it, the warmth, the softness. Even like this so quiet, and vulnerable, she made my heart tighten. “You look too peaceful,” I murmured under my breath. “And far too quiet for someone who drives me insane constantly.” I let my hand linger for a moment longer, watching her
