He opened his eyes to see his two loved ones. Grace held Aurora in her arms, who slept soundly in her mother’s embrace.
“Alastair, isn’t she beautiful?” Grace whispered when she realized he was awake. He sat up.
“She is beautiful,” he said, looking at the little one. “But she needs to be cleaned.”
Grace only nodded, and she wanted to move, even though she was in great pain, but Alastair stopped her.
“No, let me do that. You must rest.”
Grace looked at him for a little while, then she nodded. It hurt her so much, she could not give her a bath, but she admitted that her state didn’t let her move.
Alastair got up and took Aurora from Grace. He held her with one arm, and with the other, he made sure Grace was covered.
“I ask Catriona to help you, and to bring some breakfast for you.”
