Prologue

It was a dark dark cave where light did not have the permission to enter ever. It was the realm of darkness from where the creatures of fire and metal woke up. It was the place which was unknown to anyone since the beginning of time and the ones who had come to know about this place had not lived to tell the tale about this place. There was a brief flash of light out of one end of the cave which seemed to be endless but was not. There was a voice at the end of the cave. It seemed to be human voice but nothing could be farther from truth. “What is it that you seek Sorceress?” came out a loud roar from the end of the cave while there were loud recurring thuds from the end where there had been a flash of fire a while back. “You cannot lay back wallowing in the gold that you have stolen from the humans Zadris. That is the reason you have been cursed,” said the young sorceress who was wearing the garb of a knight. No one in the Kingdom knew that she was a woman or even worse a sorceress. “Have you come here to rub salt on my wounds Sorceress? Is that what you want to do?” asked the creature in a loud roar as there was a volley of fire breathed out in the direction of the sorceress but she stood there as the fire enveloped her but did not even singe off a hair on her body. “You know Zadris, you are not going to be able to harm me under any circumstances, so why do you keep at it? You have been doing this since the last five decades without any luck but still you are too much of a brute to change. But I have not come here to ask you of anything rather I bring good tidings,” said the Sorceress who revealed her face by pulling off her helmet and a swath of dark hair fell down her back past her shoulders. “Speak your mind Sorceress. And leave me be in my wealth and let me suffer my curse in loneliness,” said the dragon who had come quite close to the light. “There is a way to break free your curse and let you return to your original form and then you can be back at being the shifter which you were again, but it requires a sacrifice on your part,” said the Sorceress of Light with a grin on her lips. “Since you are smiling I am extremely confident that this is not going to bode well for me in any course,” said Zadris, in his gruff voice, with smoke and soot filled in his throat. A smell and feeling which he relished. “You ought to let go off all your wealth and live the life of a human for the next century. Only then you will get your mate after a thousand years and beget an heir for your kingdom. It might be nothing now, but I am pretty sure that after thousand years it is going to be nothing like this. So tell me Zadris, are you willing to leave this wealth and come out and lead the life a human?” asked the Sorceress as Zadris grumbled and let out smoke off his nostrils. “It is only a thousand years Sorceress. I am willing to do anything for me to get my Zadrina back,” replied Zadris.
