“Lorcan said you were the cheeky one,” I responded as I stepped into the room. The warlock’s smile widened, showcasing pearly white teeth and making it impossible not to grin back. His positive energy was infectious.
“Did he now? What else did he say about me?” He clasped his hands together, leaning further back in the chair until he was balancing on the two back legs of it, his muddy boots still resting on the bed next to Lorcan.
“That you always crash the party,” I teased as I stood on the opposite side of the bed and looked down at Lorcan’s peaceful face.
“Wrong,” he wagged his finger at me as I met his gaze once more. “There is no party until I arrive.”
