Lorraine’s heart hammered as she stood outside Roman’s bedroom door. She should turn back—shouldn’t be here, not after what she saw last night. But the mark still burned on her palm, the faint sting reminding her that something real had happened. Something she couldn’t ignore. Her hand trembled as she twisted the handle. The door opened with a slow creak. Roman sat at the edge of his bed, shirtless, his dark hair damp as though he’d just stepped out of the shower. He glanced up at her, surprise flickering in his eyes. She stepped inside, shutting the door behind her. With a deliberate motion, she turned the lock.
