Celeste groaned as she opened her eyes. She blinked feeling like she’d been under water for too long and her ears were filled with water. Her ears were healed but they were going to take a few hours before they got back to normal.
She needed to feed. She cringed as she thought about the odious task. She was a vampire but she hated that part of herself, since female vampires didn’t exactly have readymade blood slaves they could feed from. Tavek’s father, the selfish bastard reasoned that female vampires will feed from their mates when they reached their maturity and started to survive on blood alone. She had to work harder for her food because she was never mated. She had chosen to be part of the king’s consort, because she had wanted more out of her life than relying on a nobody vampire
