The summons came the next morning.
Not a request. A formal legal summons, issued under the trustee charter's compulsory appearance clause — the provision that allowed the trustees to require the presence of any family member with a material interest in a pending decision. It had apparently never been used before in the charter's fifty-year history. The trustees had used it now because they knew about the 1887 invocation filing and they needed to move first.
Twenty-four hours. She had until ten o'clock the following morning to appear at the trustees' designated meeting space or face a default finding that could be used to accelerate the heir recognition petition.
