Chapter 61 - Attempt at Reconciliation

806 Words
"Do you remember the trip you took with Peter? When you felt awful about the day that has passed and he took you somewhere peaceful?" Emily starts the conversation while Emman and Peter rounded up the mansion to inform everyone of the current issue at hand. Kiki stood by the bedside table, looking worriedly at the gloomy weather. "I think so, why?" I answered her. "Well, it was a special day. It was a turning point in your friendship. I only hope for you two to reconcile the way we did, too." She says. "It's the least of my concern," I reply promptly with honesty laced in my voice. I had noticed Peter's resentment the moment I left their group but it was not my biggest problem. As of now, I had to think of a way to stop the annihilation that was about to happen on Earth. "It was dreadful of me to forget," said Peter, entering the room, looking apologetically, "but that was the afternoon I was trying to think to cheer you up and it crowded other things out." "Emman would think it was acceptable if you got up in the middle of the night and had dinner, but you keep your eyes open about you this time. Also, I'm not sure if I'm doing it totally correct might make you more stupid than ever-but you can invite Emery to come over rather than spend a couple of hours with you and have coffee here." Santi put her hands together, mimicking a theatrical sigh. "Oh, Emily, may I use the rosebud spray coffee set?" "You are able to envisage things after all, or else you'd never understand how much I've wished for that particular thing. It would appear so pleasant and mature. No risk of my forgetting to put the coffee to boil whenever I have guests." Her satirical effort at humor was met with laughter from everyone else in the room. "I can just imagine myself sitting down at the crown and pouring out the tea," said Santi, shutting her eyes ecstatically. "And asking my subjects of the work they take. I know it's not my job nor do they change routines, but I'll ask them, nonetheless. Then pleading with her to eat another slice of cakes and a second dish of jams. It's a lovely experience simply thinking about it, you guys." I jerked awake from my daydreaming by the noise, sleep-deprived and exhausted from jumping realms; I had forgotten how taxing it might be to be Queen. The strange sounds shattered my drowsy haze, making me sigh at the inequity of reality. Not this again! How can they manage this in the wee hours? I really should move somewhere else soon. I dressed in the morning instead of thinking about what Lilith and dad might have come up with. I was almost savagely attacked by a horde of photographers outside the home as soon as I came out, so I instantly shielded my face and locked the door in one rapid motion. What the hell? Have they recently accepted a new film?! Don't even think about it! I was able to get out securely by using the rear door. I'm not sure what he did this time, but it was clearly the Creator's handiwork. I made it to work on time, which was a supernatural event in itself. Thank you very much, I'd prefer not to face my boss's fury for being late again. What occurred last night is still fresh in my mind. I trembled as I remembered that horrible day and prayed that it wouldn't happen again. I took a few moments to calm myself before opening the file Lilith had left on my countertop, going over the content and structure with a grimace on my face. Damn it! Since the minute I stepped foot on this land, I've been working on this blueprint. All I've had is a massive headache. It's the second day, and I'm still nothing close to finishing the assignment. It was a transaction involving some of the company's cash reserves, and the customer was very obstinate. When my doorbell rang, I grumbled a loud "come in" without looking up. Emily's aunt smiled as she said, "Good morning, children." "Explain me about that now," Emman urged, pointing to the closely associated folder in my hands that was the bane of our lives. I urged him to transmit our selected draft to the respondent, but according to the folder in my hands, they brazenly denied all of our suggestions. He recognized how challenging this assignment was because we both decided to remain up late yesterday night working on it. Attempts squandered! I had to think of some other way to fix this. I was not going down without a fight. That was a sure thing.
