Immortui rushed past me. Ironic as they can't go any faster than a rhinoceros. Yes, I know about them now that I took up that stupid zoology class in high school.
"You should stop dwelling. It won't help, hon." A low female voice speaks from behind me. It was Lilith.
"I never thought I'd see you sulking here again. How was your life on Earth?" She takes her hand to my face, setting aside strands of hair.
"It was fine, I guess," I muttered, still sulking.
"Cut the crap, Santi. I've been to Earth. I know the rushing feelings of joy humans felt. I know we never really leave it behind when we return to this wretched place."
I had forgotten she had lived centuries before me. She was a goddess forsaken, indeed.
"It was f*cking wonderful. Everything I could ever ask for. Everything I wanted to experience and so much more. Now I understand why humans are so shitty. And to tell you honestly, I'm not a fan of them."
"Never was, either." She comments.
"But..."
I trail off, thinking about what I had left behind. It was so glorious. I could have lived without the drama but honestly, it was exciting.
How do you explain something like that to a person? It was hard. Heartbreaking. But it had to be done. I had to leave him on Earth, forever. He had to experience this with me, grow, and move on.
That's what I kept telling myself.
But 3 months after, and I still haven't moved on. I still haven't forgotten about him.
"I'm gonna take a visit up above. Do you want anything? Chips, ears? Hooves? What?" My father says, dryly.
It hasn't been the same for us since. He bore the ax that broke our hearts. He destroyed me in a way I never thought a father could do.
"Angel, I'm sorry that had to happen to you. But you know you never could stay up there. You were an abomination on Earth. Every angel despised your presence there, so much so, that every one of them plotted your death."
"I was doing fine on my own. I lived just fine for weeks. You didn't have to ruin it all for me just like you did for mom."
His mouth tightens. His lips pursed. His eyebrows meet in fury. But he said nothing and left the room, closing the door behind him, slowly.
"Well, that was a bit harsh, darling." Lilith comes inside the room. "Yes, I'd been lurking outside. Lucifer still owes me an apology, but he does not deserve a lecture nor that sassy mouth of yours."
I turn away, guilty.
