"We have to hurry," Santi shouts in haste. "The demons will arrive any time now. With them, follows the heralds of Heaven. You do not want to get caught in a war between celestial realms."
"I don't know if you know this, babe, but what the f**k?" Emily screeches. They weren't aware of my devilish history. Only Emman overheard and knew my entire story.
Which made him more attached and vulnerable to me.
"Yes, please do enlighten us." Peter joins in on the fun.
"We do not have enough time for storytelling. All you should know is that Santi is the Queen of Hell and,"
"And I had just escaped my own trial on whether or not I should live. And whether or not I should have my memories and powers eliminated if I do decide to fight for my life." I finish Emman's sentence, and our eyes meet, only briefly, but I still felt the intense connection.
As if the time lost between us was but an hour or so. As if our hearts had always been adjoined. But the moment passed as their Aunt Moira bursts through the door once again.
"Darling, I don't know if you've heard that loud throttling horn sound or whatever, but I do praise you for being cautious and covering up the walls and windows." She worships Emman and Peter's work of barricading the mansion.
"Aunt Moira now is not the time for these antics. What we are talking about in here is of utmost importance, and we'd appreciate it if you could leave us alone for an hour or two." Emman gently nudges her out of the room, locking the door behind her.
"Well, she's a handful," Kiki comments.
"Shush it," Emily silences Kiki. "What do we have to do, Santi?"
Taken aback by her courage and determination to move forward after what I had declared, I smile at Emily. Of all people, I did not expect her to be one to give out sane reactions or responses.
"Wow, you're taking this so well," Emman observes, as well.
"No time to lose," I gather their attention again. "My dad-"
"Lucifer, right?" Kiki tries to catch up. I nod, letting his interruptions pass.
"Lucifer is still trying to win the gods over. Trying the fight for my existence and affection." I start. "We have at least an hour before any celestial creature arrives."
"What happens then?"
"A war will ensue," I tell them sternly. Their faces fall grimly as I expected. This wasn't exactly joyous news. "Dad will lead his battalion to protect me. Most probably it will happen right here on Earth. As the heralds of Heaven try to find me, Lucifer will also try and stop them. This was should not concern us. The only thing we should focus on is keeping everyone safe." I instruct.
"That's fairly easy. We've barricaded the mansion. Everyone is kept in their individual chambers. This building can survive at least a bomb explosion 50 meters away." Peter interjects.
Ain't that cute? I inwardly laugh at Peter's attempt to seem heroic or helpful.
"A mansion is not going to survive the spite of the Lord, Peter. We need to hide." I tell them. They look at each other, knowingly. "What, what is it?" I ask, begging to know what they know.
"We have a bunker underneath this mansion," Emman replies. "We've hung out a couple of times down there. It's spacious enough to fit all twenty of us comfortably. It's also at least twenty-four steps beneath so maybe we'll be either undetected by whoever tries to find us, or safe enough from any possible explosions of whatsoever."
"That's the single most helpful thing I have heard today," I tell him in glee. At least the humans' protection was ensured. "How about the neighboring houses?" I asked, concerned.
"There are no neighboring houses. The three consecutive warehouses you passed by are for storage uses. Dad's new business uses it to store inventory. The next occupied house is at least a mile away." Emily answers.
I take note of their responses, finding it a possible tip and trick for the war later on.
"This is a really convenient place to murder someone," Kiki observes to which we all grimly replied.
"Are you sure there's nothing else we can do? Move someplace else? Fight back?" Emman whispers to me while the others banter Kiki's wild accusations.
"No, I'm sorry," I tell him, feeling guilty about the chaotic mess I was about to create. "There won't be enough time to leave. Our best chance is to hide. Fighting back is not an option, too, you know that. These creatures that are about to arrive, are the most powerful creatures to walk this land. You will all be gone by the flick of their hands. It's safer to wait it out."
