I devoted my time to figuring out how we could move around. I had the list of the hostages and the files of every rescue.
I was not a supernatural, and seeing the files of all those innocent beings experimented on made my blood boil. Asteria, Mat´s youngest sister, was the one who put all the files together, and I must admire the detail she placed on every single file.
She was in charge of the children who were rescued. The files of each of them were compelling and hard to ignore. An Angel girl, Dina, was forced to pull out her wings ahead of time. Most of the articulations of her wings were damaged, and she might not be able to heal them in time for her first shift. That would mean she could never turn into her natural angel form. Asteria has been sending her to therapy with Evangel and Samantha. Both were healers, but they had different approaches, and she hoped that they, along with Darius’s ingenious healing skills, might get her into shape to at least lead an everyday adult life.
There was an angel boy named Javan... He had a fate similar to Dina's, but he was younger, and from what Asteria documented, he might be a healing angel because the damage was considerably less than what they did to Dina. The treatment she suggested for Javan was similar to Dina´s, but the healing he needed was more on the psychological end, because the pain and torture he was exposed to were traumatic.
Two demon boys - Awan and Andras- were experimented on for healing abilities, and they were tortured if they were not able to read minds or predict the future. Not every demon has those abilities; indeed, they don´t develop them until they age. These kids were tortured in a pointless program, and I need to consider their suffering and trauma when dealing with the humans responsible for these secret programs.
Lilith, the demon girl, was not only tortured but also abused. She was young, and she was technically mutilated. They were trying to see how demons reproduced... The image of Lilith made my blood boil. She was an innocent demon girl who had her future ahead of her, and then she was denied one fundamental right: maternity. It was not fair, and the more I read the detailed reports Asteria had put together, the more determined I became to finish this issue once and for all and get those kids justice for what they had done to them.
Louve and Ashine, two Lycan girls... who were also tortured to see if their wolves would heal them, even when they were not even close to being of age. Each girl was 6 or 7 years old. The scars, the burning irons, and the broken skin left by the whips were evidence enough of their suffering. They were not mutilated, but they were also abused... because abusing little girls is part of every f*****g typical experiment. Of course the people responsible for this programs were depraved, blood thisty assholes who never considered that they were dealing with living beings. They would be able to have families, but I don´t think they will be able to function properly around others if they don´t get the therapy needed. Thankfully, Asteria was reaching out to Aqua and Anita to help them deal with the trauma. Aisling is also involved, and I was confident that they and Charmaine would be able to overcome the deeper wounds.
Boris, the Lycan boy, was close to puberty, and he endured horrible torture. I bit my lower lip, not knowing how to survive the images of his battered body. The photos resembled and brought to my memory the pictures of my sister Ava being abused. I wanted to toss the reports and kill the bastards we held as exchange coins and upper hand.
There was another girl, a mermaid called Naia, and a vampire boy called Zane. They were the other two teenagers. Naia was seventeen, and Zane was nineteen. When Zane was rescued, he was turning into a feral beast. He had been deprived of blood for extended periods; he had been tortured and driven crazy to the point of self-harming to get the much-needed vital liquid. It was devastating, and I couldn´t even look at the pain his eyes reflected. Asteria was even more detailed with Zane´s report than anyone else’s.
I looked around the room, and Brad and George had their jaws tensed. “So, how do you want to go about this?” I looked at them, and Brad lowered his gaze.
“Nothing will justify our actions, and the supernatural world is right to declare war on us,” Brad said, and I chuckled.
“The supernatural race, the ones our government calls monsters, are being civilized and are impartial to this c*****e. You are right about them being in their right to declare war, and we need to be very assertive wth the human elites, this is a one-time chance to prevent war, because they are being lenient.” I paused, “We are the monsters...” I said, and they nodded.
“We should investigate who was responsible for all this. We have to expose him and work our way around that.” Brad said, and I nodded. I knew there was a bastard, the one who took Lorenzo´s place; he might be one of the ones who authorized all of this. Then we need to see which doctors and nurses were the ones who hurt the kids. There were kids and adults; the reports of everyone were heartwrenching, but the children´s reports were even more harsh to read.
“Alright, let’s prepare the meeting,” I said, and they nodded.
We worked for more than four hours, preparing and adding information to the files about the people who conducted the experiments in every case. Finding out who was responsible for what was a titanic task, but thankfully, Angelo helped us read them, and we managed to link each case to the person responsible for it.
Late at night, I made my way back to the cabin. When I opened the door, I was greeted by candles burning low and a couple of plates set at the table, cold but still delicious. Angie was cuddled on the couch with a throw blanket over her.
“Angs...” I cooed, and she stirred in her place and slowly opened her eyes.
“It took you so long,” she sighed, and I cupped her cheek and kissed her temple.
“I am so tired... and reading the files your sister compiled, and they are heartwrenching.” I leaned into her, and she sighed.
“I can warm up our food.” She said, and I nodded.
“I need a shower...” I said, and she gave me a soft smile.
I pecked her lips, left the living room, and headed to the bedroom to shower.
She stood up and warmed our dinner, but only when I walked outside did I realize it was past midnight. Indeed, time flies when you do something to get justice for others. I opened a chair for her, and she sat down. “I don´t want to go home.” She mumbled, and I looked at her.
“I can´t stay here with you without touching you, and I want your Goddess blessing...” I said, and she sighed.
“But, I love you and you love me...” She protested, and I sighed. I knelt before her and pressed my head into her chest.
“I know, and it is hard for me to resist... I am tired, and I want to keep the nightmares away...” I looked up, and she sighed.
“Alright... I will stay with you to keep those demons away... I promise I will behave,” she said, and I sighed. I needed her more than she could have imagined. I counted on her to behave because I was not strong enough to resist.
