I should have known. My father had been scheming for years, of course, he made sure we didn't have a single piece of helpful information on our hands. However, could I trust my so-called ancestor? He could be lying, too, for all I knew. At least he offered to be put under a spell to know if he is lying. My mind reminded me. "What are you thinking, Aitana?" Ignis asked, noticing my mind had been trailing off. I clenched my fists, feeling the phantom heat of my stolen flames flicker beneath my skin. "I'm thinking that even if you're telling the truth now, that doesn't erase centuries of lies." My voice came out sharper than I intended, edged with the bitterness I'd carried since learning what my father had done. Ignis sighed. "I know, that's why I told you the truth would hurt more.
