Georgia lay on her bed, staring at the ceiling. The white paint had small cracks running through it like veins. She'd stared at those cracks so many times over the years that she could trace their paths with her eyes closed. Her phone buzzed on the nightstand. She turned her head, reaching for it quickly. The screen lit up with a message. Lucian: I'm outside.' Georgia sat up, her heart beating a little faster. She stood and walked to the window, pulling the curtain back just enough to peek outside. His car was parked across the street, the headlights off, the engine running. She could see his silhouette in the driver's seat. She let the curtain fall back into place and grabbed a jacket from the back of her chair. She slipped it on, zipping it halfway, and walked quietly to the door. S
