Georgia pulled up to Damien's house just after nine in the morning. The sky was overcast, thick gray clouds hanging low like they were holding their breath. The air smelled like rain, damp and heavy. She turned off the engine and sat there for a moment, staring at the house. Her phone was in her hand, the message still open on the screen. Her chest tightened. She'd read it a hundred times since yesterday. Each time, it felt worse. More threatening. More real. Georgia took a deep breath and stepped out of the car.
