The following week continued in the same fashion, Alex and I going to school together, then spending our evenings at home together. My dad and I had found a new routine of morning FaceTime calls in place of our usual breakfast. Somehow, they were even more uncomfortable than mornings at home, but at least with these, I could fake an emergency and get out of the conversation at any point in time if it got too awkward to bear.
