When I woke up again, the room was still quiet with only the sound of Alex’s quiet breathing next to me. I sat up, stretching my arms overhead and rolled my neck to each side, trying to soothe the ache from sleeping curled up on the couch like that. At least my headache was finally feeling better, hardly even noticeable anymore. Alex was stretched out on the couch beside me, his head resting against my side. Gently, I slid myself out, doing my best not to disturb him. Kneeling in front of the couch, I couldn’t help but admire him. He looked so peaceful like this. The worry lines he’d held from the past couple of days were gone now. His damp hair hung over his face, covering one eye and his lips parted in the slightest. I raised my hand, brushing his hair out of his face and Alex stirred.
