The grand double doors of the dining hall loomed before me, intimidating in their ornate design. The soft hum of conversation and tinkling of cutlery wafted from beyond, sending a ripple of anxiety down my spine. I swallowed hard, my palms clammy against the soft fabric of my dress. Why was I so nervous? Was it just the thought of meeting Phoenix's family, or was there something deeper, a nagging feeling at the back of my mind that things weren't quite right?
