Sixty-five: Unchained Instincts

DYLAN’S POV: A sharp chill crept over my skin as I stirred, my senses sluggish, my head pounding like I had been hit by a wrecking ball. My body felt heavy and painful, my limbs stiff as if I had been lying here for hours. I blinked against the thick fog surrounding me, the air damp and eerily still. The world around me felt… wrong. The trees stood gnarled and lifeless, their twisted branches clawing at the sky. Shadows curled at the edges of my vision, shifting like they had a mind of their own. What is going on?! What is this place? Then I felt it—something…no, someone beside me. I turned my head and froze. Cassandra. She lay unmoving on the damp ground, her face pale, her breathing steady but shallow. My pulse quickened. How is this possible? Why is she here? Why are we here?
