2. Her Resolution

427 Words
“A handsome brooding face, deep mesmerizing green eyes, a body that could make any woman drop to her knees and beg… What can I say, Ana? I think I’m head over heels already,” Athena let out in almost the same breath, telling her bestie of her still nameless mate. “Okay. What’s the plan?” Anastasia asked her in response. “Simple!” Athena exclaimed, “Go back there and seduce the guy.” “Shouldn’t you be getting to know each other first?” Her best friend retorted in a teasing tone. “Old school much?” Came Athena’s teasing right back. “I wanna bang him first, talk to him next.” Anastasia exploded in a fit of giggles. “I see.” “What are you laughing about?” Athena all but whined. “I’m still a V, and I’m older than you by almost five years.” “It’s not a competition.” It was Ace’s voice that reached her ears. “I think you should get to know the guy first. From what you told Ana, he doesn’t appear to be very fond of our kind.” “I’ll make him like us,” Athena said dismissively. “I am his damned mate for a reason. Surely, I can change his opinion. If not, then why were we fated?” Silence met her cocky response from both Anastasia and Ace.    “Why aren’t you saying anything?” She asked after a few moments.   “What’s there to say except I wish you the best of luck?” Anastasia told her immediately. “Should you need our help with anything, let us know.” “Thanks, Ana. You’re the best.” “If we don’t team up to help you get your long-awaited mate, what are best friends for?” And before long, they bid their goodbyes and ended the call. Athena’s mind went to her mate. Good god, she had been so hurt by his obvious rejection of her earlier, that had she been any lesser woman, she would have given up because of her wounded ego. But she wasn’t. She was Athena Patera. Her father, Andreas Patera, was famous among their kind, mainly for both his deadly and curative potions. But even he didn’t have a love potion to give her – admittedly, love potions were forbidden to begin with. And according to what her mom told her, he had had a hard time wooing her because of her fiercely independent streak. She shall not give up on her mate… or so she told her resolutely. After all, nothing and no one could stand in the path of fate.  And if this nameless alpha was her fated mate, that could only mean they belonged together.
