Lonely

Duncan Blythe hadn't come out her room the next day. I could hear her steady heartbeat and I knew she was asleep. I was worried she had slept practically the whole day. I could smell she was healthy and I knew her being a succubus made her immune system and healing rate just as fast as a shifter. But I still worried. I knocked but she didn't answer. It was like her heart would skip a beat, speed up and then go right back to a peaceful hum. I waited outside her door for an hour and there was no change. I walked back and forth for two before debating kicking her door down. I wanted to make sure she was alright but I also didn't want to upset her. Which I think I already did. She looked at me with this pained expression on her face that left me cold. I worried I said something last night in my rant that had hurt her deeper than I meant for it to. Sofia had called me confused on if I had told Blythe why she was around. When I said no she was pissed because Blythe had been ready to fry the last bit of her soul that was still intact. I was of course pissed at Blythe for pulling the jealous mate on Sofia whose been my best friend since we were twelve. It was only later that I realized I hadn't made proper introduction between the two and with all Blythe's talk of me having someone...she thought it was Sofia. I felt like a prick and I wanted to fix it. But she wouldn't open the door for me... Blythe I laid in bed on my side curled into a ball. I heard Duncan moving around the house but I ignored his voice talking with Sofia. Not moving an inch when he knocked gently on my door I didn't look as he whispered, "Hey B I'm going to my parents house...I'll be back soon with dinner if you're hungry." I didn't respond but instead listened to him leave and sniffled as I propped up on my hand to watch them out my window. I watched them pile up in his car and he turned and I saw him looking at my window with a frown. He got in his car and drove off to his parents house. Or her house cause I highly doubt she lived in the hobbit house not to far from Duncan's place. Kicking the covers off me I got up and walked out of the room. I walked into the kitchen and sat on the island contemplating on what to do. Deciding to see if my sister or Clary could come over I called my sister first since I hadn't seen her in the longest time. Walking around my room I listened to her phone ring and then her bubbly voice filled my ear. "Hey sis!" I smiled feeling a bit better hearing her voice, "Hey! Oh my god we haven't talked in forever!" I said happily. It had been forever since I talked to Charlotte, being mated to someone does that. But being mated to two someone's was worse. "Are you busy can you come over?" Charlotte agreed and so I sat outside and waited. After an hour I checked my phone and nothing. After another half hour I called her but didn't get a response. Worried I called one of the twins who answered with an annoyed ," What?" Ignoring the grumpy alpha wolf I asked, "Xavier have you seen my sister? She was supposed to come over like an hour ago." Xavier let out a noise, "I think she said something like that, but we got pretty preoccupied." I winced. Of course she had been f*****g them and forgot about me. Xavier coughed awkwardly and said, "I can tell her to call you when she wakes up." I shook my head tired of begging her to come and see me. She wouldn't. "Don't bother I'll catch her some other day." I hung up after and went back inside. I didn't want to be in Duncan's way but I didn't want to be in my room anymore. Laying on the couch I flipped through the channels until I landed on something sci-fy and believable. Unlike every last Sharknado movies made. Duncan walked in sometime later and when he saw me on the couch he stopped dead, "Hey sleeping beauty you feeling okay?" I didn't look at him, I can't look him in the eye."I'm fine." I murmured. Duncan stood and looked at me, I could feel his eyes on me but then his phone rung and he was gone. Sighing I turned the tv off and went back to my room. Laying in the middle of my bed I put in my headphones in and listened to music as I smoked some hash. When I felt the bed dip I looked at Sofia who smiled at me non threateningly. Taking my headphones out my phone automatically connected to my speaker. Listening to the music I passed the blunt to her. "Here to babysit?" Sofia snorted as she blew the smoke out. "I've had to watch worse. Snotty nose demons compared to you was worse darling." I smiled at her and said, "Thank you. So how old are you?" Sofia smiled "24. Same as Mac." I guess she saw my face when she mentioned Duncan because she frowned and tried to tell me something, "Hey I wanted to put it out there that he and I aren't-." I shook, "I'm honestly not high enough to discuss him. Can we talk about you?" Sofia nodded and smiled at me sweetly, "Sure. What do you want to know?" Duncan I almost screamed when I came back into the house it was blazed with weed. I smoke too but I couldn't risk the exposure after finding Blythe. I need to tell her to cut it out before she woke up with my mouth somewhere. Walking to her door I c****d an eyebrow at Sofia who was laying with her in the bed lighting a blunt. Sighing I shook my head, "You two hanging out now?" I was playing dumb for Blythe's benefit and Sofia gave me a subtle nod. Blythe looked at me and took two puffs before putting the blunt out quickly. She looked at Sofia and whispered, "Thanks for the talk Sofia. Come see me some time." Sofia hugged her and bounced out. Following behind her I hissed, "What's wrong with her?" Sofia had a gift for manipulating emotions. She also could read the ones currently present. It was her hidden talent she kept close and had only told me about. I had begged her to come over and get a read on Blythe. I wanted to know what was going on with her. Sofia looked at me with a pissed expression, "She's battling depression that stems from loneliness. Care to tell me how that could be?" Not liking her tone I told her, "She can't be around me, that's clear Sofia." Sofia snorted, "Yeah you know I still think that's bullshit." I looked at her again not liking her tone and Sofia got heated then, "But you also leave her in this big ass house all damn day with no one to talk to. Her sister and best friend are both recently mated so you know they are too busy mating to talk to her." Sofia looked at me and admitted, "Her sister stood her up today. So she really doesn't need you being a d**k to her." Shooting her a dry look I flipped her off and waved her out. Going back to the house I found Blythe in her room and I saw she was curled up in her bed asleep. Walking to her I knelt beside her and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead as I pulled the cover over her body. Walking out of the room I looked back to see her stir before going back to sleep. Walking to my home study, I sat at my desk and answered the phone for my brother. "What Vincent?" Vince chuckled, "You know you wouldn't be so stressed if you loved up on that banger two doors down from you." I sighed in frustration, "Did you want something or did you call to annoy me?" Vincent chuckled again, "Both. Dad is getting an earful about your mate. Everyone is curious as to why she hasn't been claimed. And considering her heritage not to mention her genetics I'm surprised and curious how you're resisting her." I perked up, "And who else is curious?" Vincent sighed finally sounding serious. "Marisol's parents. They already wanted you to reject Blythe from the jump and now they think that's what's happening. They're waiting for your proposal." I growled feeling my phone becoming weak in my hands as my strength started to crush it. "Then tell them to keep waiting because I'm not interested, never have been, and I want my mate!" Vincent sighed, "Don't bite my head off bro. Ever heard don't shoot the messenger?" I growled at him frustrated. Vincent suddenly snapped at me, "Neither mom nor the Beer's will have anything to say if you don't start accepting who you are and what that girl means to you. She's your mate and you're a vampire. Instead of being happy about her your f*****g whining while some of us don't even have a mate. So stop f*****g acting like its the end of the world and man the f**k up now. And stop locking that girl in your house all day! She's a succubus she needs connection to people." With that he hung up and I knew I f****d up if Vincent was angry with me. Sighing I leaned back into my chair and looked at the picture of my eldest brother Charles. He had killed himself last year after he accidentally killed his mate on the blood moon. He woke disoriented, covered in the woman he loved blood. He couldn't deal with what he had done and hung himself. I was the one who found him. But his death told me something. "Don't make my mistakes." Grabbing the picture I promised him, "I'm trying bro."
