Alpha Lincoln laughed, but I didn't back down. I wasn't going to let him intimidate me, even if he was terrifying.
"You really think highly of yourself for a woman with no status."
He was trying to knock my confidence, but the fact he was talking to me at all was evidence that he saw me as more than a woman with no status.

A single word, spoken as a bark that made me shudder and was followed by a raucous laugh as Alpha Lincoln clearly thought he was hilarious.
