Here we were again, Riven’s life dangling over me like some sort of sick joke. It was different before because she was human. There was so much more to worry about. After I turned her, it wasn’t as bad because I knew that she had a strong wolf fighting inside of her. However, I didn’t anticipate that Erik would be two steps ahead of us at all times.
Of all this time that I’ve spent with Riven, I was blind to the fact that I could have her to myself forever. That we could stay wrapped up in this little bubble and forget all the stresses of what leaked outside our lives, waiting in the world for us when we returned to it.
