Katie's POV
My head felt like a brick had hit me. I tried opening my eyes, but they felt heavy, and the pain was not helping. I felt someone touching my body, and tingles spread through me. But they were pleasant tingles. These tingles were like being stabbed repeatedly by a thousand needles. My head started to clear, though, and the events returned to me, and I was finally able to open my eyes. Ben was looking down at me with a smile on his face.
“You are finally awake. I am so pissed that Marilyn gave you such a strong dose of sedative.” He stroked my cheek and tried sounding genuinely concerned.
“She shouldn’t have had to sedate me in the first place,” I croaked out. My throat felt like a desert as I tried sitting up. I realized I was lying on Ben’s bed. “How long was I out?”
